Last Year's Nominees:
Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Martin Short, "Damages"
Terry O'Quinn, "Lost"
Michael Emerson, "Lost"
John Slattery, "Mad Men"
Andre Braugher, "Men of a Certain Age"
Attrition: This is one of the most wide-open categories on the Emmy ballot. "Breaking Bad" and "Damages" both missed the Emmy-qualifying calendar year, while "Lost" concluded its run last spring. That means this category is missing its defending champ (Paul), plus three other nominees. And even Slattery and Braugher don't necessarily seem like sure things to return. This gallery could have included 50 contenders, all with some reasonable claim either on my interest or on a plausible nomination. And the category's biggest question: How hard will Emmy voters have to work to exclude "Fringe" co-star John Noble.
