Lena Headey of 'Game of Thrones'
Lena Headey, "Game of Thrones"
Nomination Status: If there's a huge wave of "Game of Thrones" support -- not at all implausible -- Headey could ride it.
In Her Favor: Thanks to Headey's performance, Cersei Lannister has become a character who's more pragmatic and complicated on-screen than she was on the page, at least in Martin's first book. Headey also benefits from being the only "Thrones" actress to submit in this category.
Working Against Her: Lena Headey obviously isn't the female lead in "Game of Thrones." She can submit wherever she wants, obviously, and as I just got through saying, it helps her cause that she doesn't get compared to Emilia Clarke or Michelle Fairley. What doesn't help her cause is that she's appearing in one or two scenes per episode and Emmy voters will have to compare her performance to women who are in every shot of their respective shows.
