January Jones, "Mad Men"

Nomination Status: Well, she *was* nominated here last year.

In Her Favor: Damon Lindelof and all of your buddies may enjoy tweeting about what an awful actress January Jones is, but she completely deserved her nomination in this category last year, as well as her pair of Golden Globe nominations. When Betty Draper is/was written to Jones' strengths/limitations, the actress has done terrific and effective work.

Working Against Her: Unfortunately, this wasn't a season in which Betty was written as much of anything. I'd point to the kitchen scene in the finale as an example of just how much Jones can do with very little, but there's little doubt that Jones was a Supporting actress this season and that she and Elisabeth Moss would have been wise to swap categories this year, as opposed to just Moss jumping up to take Jones' position.
