Kathy Bates of 'Harry's Law'
Kathy Bates, "Harry's Law"
Nomination Status: Don't assume Emmy voters are as young and hip as you are.
In Her Favor: If "Harry's Law" had aired on TNT instead of NBC, it still would have been dreadful, but Bates would be a lock for a nomination. Not only is Bates an Oscar winner, but she's also an Emmy favorite. She's been nominated for eight Emmys, though she's never won. With all of those credentials in place, as well as a showy turn on what NBC will insist is a popular show, Bates may have an even better chance than I'm giving her credit for here.
Working Against Her: Critics have a certain amount of (well-deserved) contempt for both "Harry's Law" and for much of NBC's recent drama development. Will Emmy voters feel the same?
