Emmy Nomination Preview 2011 - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy

Is this Steve Carell's year? Or will Parsons or Baldwin win again?

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

Last Year's Nominees:
Jim Parsons, "The Big Bang Theory"
Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"
Matthew Morrison, "Glee"
Tony Shalhoub, "Monk"
Steve Carell, "The Office"
Alec Baldwin, "30 Rock"

Attrition: Tony Shalhoub's reign of terror over this category is over. Farewell, "Monk." You had a good run of it. This Emmy window also caught Larry David between seasons of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." If Emmy voters also come to their senses about Matthew Morrison, there could actually be a ton of fresh meat in this category.

This category was almost too easy.

Here are my nominees (in no particular order):

    Steve Carell (The Office)
    Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)
Jim Parsons (The Big Band Theory)
    Louis CK (Louie)
    Joel McHale (Community)
    Zachary Levi (Chuck)

I guess I could give Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation) a honorable mention, but as Dan said, it just isn't a lead role.

I guess my winner is Baldwin, though I want Carell to win.

Steve Carell, Jim Parsons and Alec Baldwin are safe. One of the three will win (GOD, If Steve does not win, there is no reason to continue watching award shows!)
Everybody knows that Matthew Morrison is a supporting actor (Glee should be called The Chris Colfer Show)! Matt LeBlanc and Rob Lowe are two famous actors in supporting roles!
Emmy voters, however, doesnt have problems by nominating Morrison - maybe because he was indeed the lead at the pilot or during the first 13 episodes...
I'd like to see Joel McHale, Lucas Neff being nominated.

I actually feel as though Johnny Galecki has built up enough goodwill over the years to sneak in with a nomination. It feels like a pretty weak field this year.

dan Joel - Her performance on "Raising Hope" has too often been hammy Old Age Minstrelry, which I find irksome in its creative laziness.

Overall and historically, I don't dislike Cloris Leachman at all. She's give *many* tremendous performances over the years.

Aw, James Roday. I love that guy. He doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of every being nominated for anything (and he might not even deserve to be) but he's just so charming!

Rob Lowe is good in Parks and I'm OK if he gets a nod even if this so not the lead of the show but I would take that over a Matthew Morrison nod. I would event take a Shatner nod over Morrison. Anyone please haha

Colfer should have submitted as lead, he was the Glee start this season (okay I admit I'm just suggesting that so he could free one spot from the Supporting category for more IMO deserving funny roles :) )
