'Friday Night Lights'
"Friday Night Lights," DirecTV/NBC
Nomination Status: Somehow I've stopped predicting and just decided to go with a wish-list.
In Its Favor: With the exception of The Season That Didn't Happen, "Friday Night Lights" has been one of the six best dramas on TV for its entire run. That doesn't necessarily mean that Emmy attention will follow, but after years of shunning, leads Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton both picked up their first nominations last year. For some reason, I've decided to see that as a positive sign that Emmy voters have noted "Friday Night Lights" across-the-board. With finale nostalgia in full effect, an Outstanding Drama Series nod here would almost make up for all of the years Emmy voters ignored the show.
Working Against It: Sadly? Reality. Shows that have never been nominated before rarely if ever pick up nominations in big categories in their final seasons. A show like "Lost" might pop back into the field due to nostalgia, but late-minute discovery? Not common.
