    Parks & Rec

    Chuck
    Louie
    It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
    South Park

But what do I know? I use the internet.

BTW, I haven't mentioned this yet Dan but thanks for taking the time to make these lists up for each category. All have been very entertaining to read.

Yeesh. That is a depressing list of front runners.

    Community
    Louie
    Its Always Sunny
    30 Rock
    Archer
Eh...I guess I'd throw P&R a bone here given the critical love. It's not a favorite of mine, but it's probably "better" than some other shows that make me laugh a whole lot more.

(Obviously that's a wishlist, not a prediction. I don't watch most of the shows at the top of this pack.)

I'm so sure you just had a separate Cougar Town gallery instead of being in the "notable" categories just because you could comment on the title haha.

And come on, I know it was not a good season overall but you don't even have HIMYM on the other notable list? That's sad :(

dan Forg - I *could* have put "HIMYM" on the "notable" lisht, I suppose. I mean, I put "Entourage" there. But really, if "HIMYM" gets nominated for this dreadful year (after getting snubbed in its very deserving first through third season), I would be really, really annoyed. Better to just ignore it and hope that voters will do the same?

You're probably right that Parks and Rec will not get nominated due to the poor decision making of emmy voters, but at the same time, this is kind of a special case in terms of a snub, isn't it? I mean, this season of Parks and Recreation is truly one of the absolute best seasons of comedy in television history. Arrested Development Season 1 and Seinfeld Season 4, the only two seasons of comedy I'd definitely put ahead of Parks Season 3, both managed to win the Emmy their respective years... I'm looking at this (as well as Offerman for supporting) like Aaron Paul last year, where a broken clock does manage to be right twice a day. Hopefully that holds true for Parks here.
To be fair though, the Emmys have done worse... just ask David Simon, Michael K. Williams, Jason Alexander(yes, he got nominated a million times, but not one win), and Katey Sagal.

If they went on merit, then they would not nominate 30 Rock, the Office or Nurse Jackie this year; and instead have Louie, P&R, Modern Family, BBT, and 1 animated show (Id choose Archer, but South Park had an awesome season, Family Guy was as good as it's ever been.)

But I think Tina Fey did another Sarah Palin impression so 30 Rock has to stink up the list yet again.

Duvisited Oh, okay. I was wondering why both Dan and Alan had left Archer off their lists.

If I had the ability to nominate my favorite funnies, it would be:

    Community
    Parks and Rec
    Portlandia
    Futurama
    30 Rock

Honorable mentions for Idiot Abroad, Running Wilde, Bored to Death and Workaholics. If Death Comes to Town was a full series, I'd vote for it over Portlandia or 30 Rock. This section of the actual emmys will make me sad when I read about it.

    My dream nominees would be:
    Community
    Parks & Recreation (winner)
    United States of Tara
    Cougar Town
    Louie
    30 Rock

Community certainly is the most creative of the bunch, Parks & Recreation is the fullest formed series with a great ix of character-work and amusing storylines. United States of Tara, while not in any way a comedy, still deserves its dues for being such a fantastic and ambitious show. It’s terrible that it got cancelled. There was times in the first season of Louie where I just had to pause because I thought I was having a heart attack from laughing, but it wasn’t as consistent as the other shows I picked, and at times it might've been a bit too depressing. 30 Rock had easily one of its best seasons yet, and I’m happy that it is a lock to be nominated again this year for comedy series.

    These shows will get nominated:
    The Office
    Modern Family
    Glee
    Hot in Cleveland
    The Big C
    30 Rock

I wouldn’t put it past the academy to put the woefully unfunny Nurse Jackie in that category as well, even if it’s undeserved for its lazy, uneven third season. Parks & Recreation is certainly a dark horse as well, due to the love for Amy Poehler and the buzz surrounding it. The Office is deserved, if only for the farewell Carell arch of the season. Sadly I think Modern Family played it a bit too safe this year, with little character development and a bit too obvious laughs. Felt very much dumbed down this year. Glee doesn’t even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as many of these others shows after the inconsistent and down-right terrible season it had, but it will get nominated nevertheless. The terrible Hot in Cleveland will sadly also get nominated due to its Golden Globe nomination earlier this year, and its throwback nature to comedies of the 80s and 90s. Betty White certainly helps it. The Big C is undeserved due to how inconsistent it was – terrific pilot, some good episodes along the way, others truly horrible, but a fantastic finale. I find all the characters grating and there wasn’t too many laughs in the best episodes of the series. As said earlier, 30 Rock is the only deserving nominee from those who will certainly get in the race. That’s a bit depressing to think of, given how terrific Community, Parks & Recreation and Cougar Town have all been this season.

Parks & Recreation and Community remind me of Newsradio and Scrubs when it first aired. Two funny under appreciated shows with great casts.

Glee? The Big C? Jesus, I know you're right, but it really depresses me. I hate those goddamned awful shows.

One thing that always confuses me about the Emmys comedy track record with regard to something like Community and Parks and Rec (and NewsRadio during it's time) is that the Emmys do often reward quality. Cheers and Seinfeld both got tons of Emmy love (and in both cases, before they got major ratings love, especially Cheers getting nominated for its dismally rated first season), The Larry Sanders Show got a bunch of nominations, even as late as the early 00s, Arrested Development got nominated all 3 years and won for the first one, not to mention another low rated show on the same network in the same time slot with similar critical love, 30 Rock, won the award 3 straight times. What is different about Community, Parks and Rec and NewsRadio?

The problem remains the same: the show's network. The Office and 30 Rock airs on NBC. Parks and Recreation and Community ALSO airs on NBC. They should have an Outstanding NBC Comedy Series category!

Were I nominating, I'd go with:

    Parks & Rec
    Community
    Modern Family
    30 Rock
    Louie
    It'w Always Sunny in Philadelphia

With Parks & Rec winning. But then, I'm not an Emmy voter.

It's so upsetting that there's a very real chance not a single one of the six funniest shows on TV will be among the six outstanding comedy series nominees. What the hell is wrong with the Emmys ability to judge quality comedies?

I' m the only person that really doesn't like P&R. I never really cared for The Office either and same with Modern Family. Something about the whole mockumentary thing. I didn't mind the way Ted talked to us in Better Off Ted and I loved the narrator in Arrested Development, but just can't stand it when it's the whole cast, I guess?
