With Kristin Chenoweth gone, will 'Glee' or 'Modern Family' stars step up?
Kristen Wiig of 'Saturday Night Live'
Kristen Wiig, "Saturday Night Live"
Nomination Status: "SNL" golden girl should pick up another nod.
In Her Favor: Two years ago, when Kristen Wiig was just going from background player to "Saturday Night Live" juggernaut, pundits hoped that she would pick up a nomination, validating her place as the show's new queen, but voters favored Old Queen Amy Poehler. Last year, Poehler remained on the ballot, despite being pregnant and immobile for most of her "SNL" episodes, and Wiig finally made the cut. Now, with more than a few viewers just a wee bit tired of Wiig's "SNL" supremacy, there's no reason to think she won't stick around. It isn't that Wiig isn't an inspired and impressive comedienne. She is. It's just that several of her characters have been on autopilot for years and there's a fear they may be taking time that could go to newer characters and stars less ready to transition to bigger and better things.
Working Against Her: Wiig Fatigue probably won't impact her nomination chances at all. The only thing working against Wiig is the possibility of a "Modern Family" or "Glee" grabbing up multiple nominations.
