Craig T. Nelson of 'Parenthood'
Craig T. Nelson, "Parenthood"
Nomination Status: A former Emmy winner on a well-liked show can never be ruled out.
In His Favor: It may not necessarily show up in the Nielsen data, but there are people who really love "Parenthood" and if those people are in the Emmy pool and want to give the freshman drama a minor tip-of-the-hat, who better to recognize than Craig T. Nelson, as secret-keeping, boyfriend-threatning pater familias? Never forget that Nelson earned three nods and a *win* for his work on "Coach." COACH.
Working Against Him: Most of the actors in this category have showy submission episodes crafted for recognition of this type. Nelson's role is truly and exclusively "supporting." In a category that demands meat (and cable edginess), Nelson falls a bit short.
