Lauren Graham of 'Parenthood'
Lauren Graham, "Parenthood"
Nomination Status: Not gonna happen.
In Her Favor: It isn't that Maura Tierney was bad in the original "Parenthood" pilot. She was very good. But the show it had to be around her wasn't all that appealing. When Graham came onboard, "Parenthood" became, by necessity, a lighter, quirky show and, almost certainly, a more audience friendly show. Emmy voters should be grateful. They also owe Graham at least three or for Emmy nominations for "Gilmore Girls."
Working Against Her: Emmy voters probably never saw the original "Parenthood" pilot, so they won't appreciate how much better it became. And they obviously didn't think they owed Graham anything for "Gilmore Girls," so that's not an incentive.
