Matthew Fox of 'Lost'
Matthew Fox, "Lost"
Nomination Status: Will try to capitalize on "Lost" nostalgia for his first nomination.
In His Favor: It's hard to know for sure if Jack Shephard became annoying in the waning seasons of "Lost" or if Matthew Fox did, but whatever was wrong the writers and star were back on track for the duration of the finale season. In this last season, Jack was suddenly sympathetic and heroic again, without sacrificing any of his inner anguish and Fox was responsible for much of the emotional impact of the final chunk of episodes.
Working Against Him: Fox picked up a lone Golden Globe nomination for "Lost" back in 2006 and never made the Emmy list. Voters may be satisfied with honoring "Lost" with multiple supporting performances and some bigger series nods, without making Fox a first-timer.
