Steve Zahn of 'Treme'
Steve Zahn, "Treme"
Nomination Status: The most recognizable actor among the "Treme" leading men, might get a few votes out of that.
In His Favor: Viewers have definitely reacted to Steve Zahn's character on "Treme," albeit with some occasional annoyance. But maybe Steve Zahn is just playing a somewhat annoying character and doing it awesomely? And maybe the reason David Simon's actors haven't earned award nominations in the past has something to do with them not having Zahn's "unique" combination of recognizable and accessible roles?
Working Against Him: Steve Zahn may be the most recognizable of the "Treme" leads (less recognizable than John Goodman, obviously), but he isn't the best. Both Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters are more likely to get merit-based award attention. And, as we've mentioned before, it's pretty unlikely that anybody from "Treme" is going to receive an acting nomination anyway, because that's not the way Emmy voters work.
