Emmy Nomination Preview 2010 - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy
Will any new faces rise to challenge Alec Baldwin? Can Jim Parsons claim the crown?
Larry David of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"
Nomination Status: It was a strong season for this returning favorite.
In His Favor: "Curb Your Enthusiasm" had a terrific season and somebody has to remember that, right? David is a three-time acting nominee and he did some of his best work this past season. Voters are likely to remember the concluding series of episodes with the "Seinfeld" cast. We think David's best work came mid-season in "The Bare Midriff." There's hilarious stuff no matter where you look.
Working Against Him: After Baldwin, Carell, Parsons and Shalhoub, this is where the category starts getting a bit wacky. The last two nominations could go to any of five or six stars depending on preferences. Emmy voters like David, for example, but they've twice nominated "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for Outstanding Comedy Series without nominating David for best actor.
