Tracey Ullman of 'Tracey Ullman's State of the Union'
Tracey Ullman, "Tracey Ullman's State of the Union"
Nomination Status: Cheaters prosper
Bottom Line: By our count, Tracey Ullman has won at least seven Emmys over the years, so why does she feel the need to cheat to get another? The show has her name in it. She's in every skit and plays nearly every character. How the heck is she up for Outstanding *Supporting* Actress in a Comedy? Who is she supporting? Herself? Why didn't she submit herself in Lead Actress *and* Supporting Actress? Heck, she plays male characters also. Why isn't she up for Supporting Actor as well? Tracey Ullman has more screentime and character exposure in any one episode of "State of the Union" than Jean Smart has had in two seasons of "Samatha Who?" put together. It just doesn't seem right. [Some people would also question if Ullman has been funny for a decade or two and if, therefore, she should be in the "comedy" category at all, but that's a different question.]
