William Hurt of 'Damages'
William Hurt, "Damages"
Nomination Status: He's William Hurt. He'll get nominated.
Bottom Line: William Hurt has four Oscar nominations (and a win). He's never been nominated for an Emmy. This is the sort of thing that will embarrass Emmy voters so significantly that they can be expected to rectify the situation even though nothing Hurt did on "Damages" was worthy of an sort of recognition. Daniel Purcell was just a catalyst for the action this season, but Hurt was inexplicably denied the sort of big episodes that justify awards. Like co-star Marcia Gay Harden, though, Hurt can expect a nod from his status. [Oh and don't get us wrong. Hurt was very fine on "Damages." His role just didn't need to be played by somebody as good as William Hurt.]
