Anna Paquin of 'True Blood'
Anna Paquin, "True Blood"
Nomination: Probably an outsider, but a dark horse
Golden Globe: "But HitFix," you're saying to us, "Paquin *won* the Golden Globe. Surely she's a nomination lock, right?" Simple answer? No. Golden Globe voters love honoring attractive young ingenues in the Best Actress, Drama category. That's their thing. That's why Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner are both Golden Globe winners, but not Emmy winners. Or that's part of the reason. We would love to see "Piano" stars Paquin and Holly Hunter go head-to-head for an Emmy and Emmy voters might be swayed by seeing Paquin all grown up and speaking with a Southern accent. But if we're guessing, we suspect Paquin's best Emmy shot this year may be for the telefilm "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler."
