Emmy Nomination Preview 2009 - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama
With nominations coming on Thursday (July 16) morning, can Bryan Cranston hold off Jon Hamm and Hugh Laurie in Emmy's most competitive category?
Hugh Laurie of 'House'
Hugh Laurie, "House"
Nomination Status: He'll be nominated
Bottom Line: Hugh Laurie has two Golden Globe wins for "House." He has two SAG wins for "House." Heck, Hugh Laurie won a Teen Choice award for "House." But he hasn't won an Emmy. Maybe this is the year, though, to rectify that oversight. Think back over Laurie/House's season. He had his father's funeral. He dealt with a colleague's suicide. He hallucinated. And, in the end, he had a mental break and checked himself into a facility. That's a lot of terrific acting moments for a man who may be the best actor in primetime. He may end up being the favorite in this category.
