Winner: New Comedies (or at least 'Glee' and 'Modern Family')
Sometimes Emmy voters can be a bit entrenched and they've been known to take a while to warm to the idea of new shows. That turns out not to have been the case with "Glee" (19 nominations) and "Modern Family" (14 nominations). Both shows were nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and earned nods for castmembers including Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Eric Stonestreet, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ty Burrell, plus a slew of guest actors. Both shows were nominated for their pilot direction and their pilot scripts. Is either comedy ready to dethrone "30 Rock," though? We'll see on Emmy night!
