Did Marshall Mathers "Relapse" back into his role as Slim Shady?
Eminem's hiatus
As Mathers recovered, he remarried Kim Mathers, but then divorced her four months later in 2006. Proof, his friend and co-member of Detroit hip-hop collective D-12, was shot and killed in Michigan. He released a compilation of artists from his Shady impring "Eminem Presents: The Re-Up" and resurfaced himself on the Akon single "Smack That."
Eminem was obviously mulling a re-entry into music when in 2007 he called a New York radio station during an interview with 50 Cent and spoke on recording new music in the studio.
