10 cases of Hollywood making the same movie twice - at the same time

'Mirror Mirror' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman' only the latest redundant cinematic pair

'Capote' vs. 'Infamous'

"Capote" (Sony Pictures Classics) - Sept. 30, 2005
Global box office: $49. 2 million

"Infamous" (Warner Independent) - Oct. 13, 2006
Global box office: $2.6 million

The result:
The low-budget "Capote," which earned Philip Seymour Hoffman an Oscar, was released first, and earned $49. 2 million worldwide. A year later, when "Infamous" (starring Toby Jones as Truman Capote) was released, audiences weren't quite ready for another look at the eccentric author. "Infamous," which cost more to produce, only managed $2.6 million at the global box office.
