Dream Directors for 'Star Wars: Episode 7'
Edgar Wright, Brad Bird, Chris Nolan more
Edgar Wright
Pro: Anyone familiar with "Spaced" knows just how much "Star Wars" meant to Edgar Wright at one point. Right now, he's working on "The World's End," his new comedy with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and then he's set to start work on "Ant-Man" for Marvel. While that may not make it possible for him to do "Episode 7," he's definitely a guy whose sense of style and whose passionate love for the films would make him a strong contender for doing these right.
Con: He may simply be too bitter about the prequels to ever be able to see "Star Wars" through a fan's eyes again. If you want to see a clear expression of heartbreak, watch the first series of "Spaced" and all the "Star Wars" references, then watch the second series, which was made after "Episode I." It's pretty clear that Wright fell out of love in a big way, and while it was certainly a big part of his formative creative years, there may not be any room in his heart for "Star Wars" now.
