We'd love to see these collaborations once more, please
The Coen Bros. and William H. Macy
Previous collaboration: "Fargo" (1996)
Why the Coens should: The filmmaker siblings have forged their share of frequent collaborations over the years. And someone like Macy, who was so driven under their direction, certainly fits in a crowd that includes character actors like John Turturro and John Goodman. It almost seems shocking they haven't gone back to that well.
Why Macy should: As noted above, Macy really excelled with the Coens at the helm, carving out one of the most memorable characters in all of their canon. He's navigated the character actor waters masterfully over the years but a leading man role under their watch could be a filmgoer's dream. They've gone with Jeff Bridges, George Clooney and Billy Bob Thornton in the past. Why not go out on a limb and lead off with someone unexpected? It certainly worked in "A Serious Man."
