'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion' (1997)

One of the more lightweight offerings on our list, the cotton-candy pleasures of "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" are nevertheless substantial for the cult fanbase it's gathered over the years. The film, while perhaps an appeasing target for a remake given its potential as a star vehicle for two late 20s/early 30s actresses, would likely fail to rope in devotees of the original for the simple fact of Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino's absence. The subsequent filmic output of the two actresses aside (though Kudrow has featured in a few decent indie efforts since), the two simply can't be replaced in those roles; better to try and corral them (along with co-star Janeane Garofalo) for a belated sequel, which I could see actually working given the right script.
