'The Breakfast Club' (1985)
Why it's so great: While it may not rank as one of the greatest films of the decade, "The Breakfast Club" is certainly one of the most watchable, with a cast of Brat Pack icons at their best and non-precocious dialogue from writer/director John Hughes that does a wonderful job approximating the way actual teenagers talk.
Remake-o-meter says: I'm actually surprised Hollywood hasn't attempted to remake this one yet - as high school films ago, it's by far one of the most iconic titles. But while a remake sounds perfectly feasible in theory - throw together a bunch of today's hottest young stars, add in some contemporary music and hit "go" - "The Breakfast Club" is, despite a few inevitably dated elements, an ageless film that boasts themes and insights applicable to teenagers of any era. Still, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a modernized version eventually came to pass.
