'Back to the Future' (1985)

Why it's so great: This Robert Zemeckis-directed blockbuster is one of the few films not helmed by Spielberg (who executive-produced) to perfectly capture his effortlessly lighthearted touch. It still holds up today as one of the greatest "popcorn movies" ever made.

Remake-o-meter says: Released over 25 years ago, "BTTF" is certainly old enough to be considered for a remake, but I doubt any other director could even come close to capturing the unforced charm of the original. Luckily, original producer Bob Gale has repeatedly stated that he and Zemeckis have no interest in rebooting the franchise - ever.
