Dear Hollywood: Don't remake these '80s classics

Both the "Footloose" remake and "The Thing" remake/prequel are hitting theaters this week, while remakes of other iconic '80s films including "RoboCop," "Red Dawn," and "Monster Squad" are currently in the pipeline. And yet we can't help but think there are some Reagan-era classics that should, like, totally be spared the modernization treatment. Following is our list of 15 beloved '80s films that deserve to be kept sacred.

Not only is everything on this list possible but also likely. It's the world we live in. Happy to have been around for their bows.

Um, Fatal Attraction was already a quasi-remake of Clint Eastwood's first directorial effort, the superior 1971 thriller Play Misty For Me.

Ashley Well, then it looks like it will be a remake, of a remake.

While I'm not a huge fan of many of Zemeckis' post BTTF films, I have huge respect for the man for refusing to budge on making any more without MJF.

Yet I still long for further adventures of Doc and Marty. The recently released video game serves as a sequel of sorts and while it has high production values it is saddled with a poor story. So it doesn't quite scratch the itch for me.

Since the Cult of $cienTOMogy seems to be in charge of Hollyweird, I think we can look forward TO EACH OF THESE BEING RE-RELEASED WITH TEENY TOM CRUISE IN THE STARRING ROLES !

There simply ARE NO NEW IDEAS THERE !

They should remake Back to the Future in 2015 and have Marty go back in time 30 years to 1985.

What could any director/cast do with Die Hard that would be better than the original? Answer - nothing.

I'm willing to watch a Ghostbusters sequel without Bill Murray. Honestly, it's for the fans Bill, and you couldn't even come through. Have fun continuing thinking you're God's gift to comedy

Unfortunately movies are business first & art decidedly a distant second. All these will be remade if possible because of the built in audience factor. Enough people will go to see them just because of the original that the films would not lose money. It's just the way it is.

Why do some people act like remakes ruin the original? It does nothing to the original. It doesn't matter how bad a remake is, it doesn't alter the original AT ALL. Complaining or this pitiful begging for remakes not to be made is ridiculous.

Long live the remake. Anytime they try something new it gets blasted anyway. I honestly think that most people today are so jaded with everything that they just can not have fun at all with anything.

Chris While it does not detract from how good the movie previously/ still is, what really bothers me is the younger generation will loose the classic ones opting for their unoriginal counterparts.

Too Late. Ferris Beuller starring Justin Beiber and The Breakfast Club starring one of the kids from Twilight are already slated for 2013.

I think a list of movies that could/should be remade would be much more interesting. This is just a bunch of famous 80's movies.
