Dear Hollywood: Don't remake these '80s classics
Both the "Footloose" remake and "The Thing" remake/prequel are hitting theaters this week, while remakes of other iconic '80s films including "RoboCop," "Red Dawn," and "Monster Squad" are currently in the pipeline. And yet we can't help but think there are some Reagan-era classics that should, like, totally be spared the modernization treatment. Following is our list of 15 beloved '80s films that deserve to be kept sacred.

October 11, 2011 at 1:05PM EST Reply to CommentWhile I'm not a huge fan of many of Zemeckis' post BTTF films, I have huge respect for the man for refusing to budge on making any more without MJF.<br /><br />Yet I still long for further adventures of Doc and Marty. The recently released video game serves as a sequel of sorts and while it has high production values it is saddled with a poor story. So it doesn't quite scratch the itch for me.

Enough people will go to see them just because of the original that the films would not lose money. It's just the way it is.

It doesn't matter how bad a remake is, it doesn't alter the original AT ALL. Complaining or this pitiful begging for remakes not to be made is ridiculous.<br /><br />Long live the remake. Anytime they try something new it gets blasted anyway. I honestly think that most people today are so jaded with everything that they just can not have fun at all with anything.
Chris While it does not detract from how good the movie previously/ still is, what really bothers me is the younger generation will loose the classic ones opting for their unoriginal counterparts.
