Lowdown: This is an example of what happens when a studio's financing partners and marketing are a mess. Take a movie that shouldn't have been made with a theatrical budget, put together two prestige actresses with little box office fire (Viola Davis, Maggie Gylenhaal), open it at the wrong time of year and then provide it with a by the numbers marketing campaign and what do you get? An utter disaster for Walden Media, Participant Productions and 20th Century Fox.
