Lowdown: What makes the Eddie Murphy dramedy an even bigger bomb than it appears to be on paper is the fact Paramount Pictures kept it on the shelf for three years. The Brian Robbins directed picture completed production in 2008 and wasn't released until March, 2012. Beyond interest adding up depending on who the studio financed the film with there are many other extra costs that accrue up for keeping a film on the books for that long. Why senior execs at the studio didn't bite the bullet and release it earlier is a question that many in the industry still don't understand to this day.
