Roughly 30 million viewers per night tuned in to NBC's Olympics coverage and those viewers were treated to an almost endless series of commercials for "Animal Practice," dominated by Crystal the Monkey. Then, NBC gave one of two crucial Olympics-aided pushes to "Animal Practice," getting a massive sampling size for the comedy. And finally, NBC reaired the pilot multiple times in the hope of exposing more eyes to the veterinary hijinks. It didn't work. After getting a big boost for that first sneak airing, "Animal Practice" cratered almost immediately and became the season's first comedy casualty. That "Go On" is kinda succeeding despite the Olympics jinx is either a tribute to Matthew Perry or, more likely, the power of "The Voice" as a lead-in.
