J.K. Simmons, Edward Norton and more vie for gold.
Ethan Hawke ("Boyhood")
Pros: Hawke has earned two Oscar nods in the adapted screenplay category for both "Before Sunset" and "Before Midnight." He was also nominated in this same category for his performance in "Training Day." The 44-year-old actor plays an integral part in Richard Linklater's 12-year drama and could easily ride a wave of support to yet another Oscar nod.
Cons: "Boyhood" seems like a lock for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay nominations. Can Hawke and co-star Patricia Arquette also earn supporting nods? They are certainly deserved, but at the moment, it's too close to call.
