Snap's 'I've Got The Power'
Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti's "The Power" may have begun its slow sweep towards world domination in January of 1990, but by the summer, it had topped charts across Europe and made it all the way to No. 2 on the US Hot 100. The amazing thing about that opening hook is that it still hits just as hard today as 23 years ago. That gets you on the dance floor. Or gets you pumped up at the gym. Wherever you are, it's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda hectic. Jackie Harris' vocals still soar and the muscular rhyme spitting by Turbo B? For that one moment, he was, indeed, the lyrical Jesse James. [We'll leave aside the various legal imbroglios stemming from failed rights clearances, because sometimes to make a perfect all-weather anthem, you've gotta crib a little.]
