Worst: Stupid 'team' skating medal makes everything anticlimactic
The Olympics tried something new this year, introducing a Mixed Team competition to the figure skating competition. The team competition produced some decent moments. Evgeni Plushenko helped Russia to a gold! Ashley Wagner became the new McKayla Maroney, meme-wise. The world fell in love with Julia Lipnitskaia. And then everything aver that became an anti-climax. Plushenko hurt himself warming up for his short program and retired. And Lipnitskaia went from titan to afterthought in record time as she was forced to repeat both of her programs and reverted from preternaturally composed swan to in-over-her-head teen. And let's be honest: Nobody needed that much ice-dancing. Yes, this figure skating double-dipping seems almost restrained compared to what the Summer Olympics do with gymnastics, but as anybody looking at NBC's ratings can tell you, audience fatigue set in where there was never fatigue before.
