Worst: Thomas Newman's score
Newman's written some great scores in his time. His work on "WALL-E" is just remarkable, and I think his "Little Children" score is something special. Whether it's "Angels In America" or "Finding Nemo" or "The Road To Perdition," when he's on, he's on. But "The Judge" is a nuisance of a score, like sitting next to someone who's already seen the film, who can't help but poke you just before each thing happens. It's annoying. It's intrusive. It's cutesy. It's just too much. And the forced artificial emotional intensity just underscores how much the film doesn't earn it.
