Worst: The opening musical number
Listen, we think Neil Patrick Harris is a great and talented guy, but the original musical number written by show musical director Marc Shaiman was completely flat and unfunny. Granted, there was some re-jiggering after Martin Short dropped out due to a personal matter at the last minute, but was a duet between Harris and Short really what America wanted to tune into at the beginning of Hollywood's biggest night? Two guys who barely are in the movie business? It wasn't as atrocious as 1988's "Snow White" number, but it was close.
