Certain members of the media (and they know who they are) continually and unfairly ripped Mo'Nique during awards season for not attending each and everyone of "Precious'" many premieres since the drama debuted over a year ago at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival (not to mention other ludicrous gossip).  it came across as dirty campaigning of the worst kind and after having been quiet for so long, the Best Supporting Actress winner immediately addressed it saying, "I want to thank the Academy for making it about the performance and not about the politics."  It was an "amen" moment at the beginning of what turned out to be an amazing speech.
