Mo'Nique rules, Martin and Baldwin disappoint and Fey, Baldwin and Stiller continue to tease
Best: Ben Stiller
Ben Stiller continues to tease the Academy. The box office star and one time MTV Movie Awards host has continued to turn down offers to host the Oscars, but still shows up with great bits that kill the room. This year, Stiller endured hour of make up to become a Na'vi from "Avatar" when he presented for Best Make Up (an award "Avatar" wasn't even up for). This comes after Stiller also ruling the Independent Spirit Awards on Friday night. Can anyone convince him to actually host one year?

The look on Samuel Jackson's face also made it appear that he was thinking the same thing.

Anyone who knew the how the press wags were dragging Monique over the coals for not making 1000s of appearances for Precious understood exactly what she was talking about. Yeah, it might have been strident, but the fact that licking the press' backside almost trumps performance during Oscar season, she was being very bold and honest.

People Are Boneheads It continues to amaze me that so many people completely missed the Clooney joke, the writer of this piece included. And given that it wasn't exactly a bewilderingly abstract Andy Kaufman bit to begin with, it doesn't really inspire much confidence in the intelligence of the average punter.

March 8, 2010 at 11:20PM EST Reply to CommentI agree that Ben Stiller was not funny. I think he had his own doubts, stating the bit seemed more promising in rehearsal as a cover. But even more so, I disagree with the writer about the "snub" to the filmmakers behind "The Cove." I applauded (at home) when they were cut off, and if it had been my call, I'd have tossed them out of the theater. I do agree with their politics and applaud their film, but the Oscars was not the place. 90 percent of the other people taking the stage had issues they felt just as strongly about, and if they had all used the stage as a pulpit, it would have ruined the entire show.
Doug Schwarz i disagree, i think they should be able to be up there to say something that is universally agreed and millions of people who HAVENT seen the cove would have been able to hear it. i talk to people all the time about the cove and they are shocked, they had no idea, this was the perfect time to say something about the atrocities happening, and the director RUINED EVERYTHING.

March 9, 2010 at 2:00PM EST Reply to CommentI think one of the best moments was when The Hurt Locker won and the director cut to the two main actors that weren't in the front of the theater with the rest of the people. They cut to Brian Geraghty jumping in the arms of Anthony Mackie and to me that shows what an Oscar can do to people. They work hard and to see something they love and work for win, that's how you should react!! You should cry, jump up and down, and just enjoy it because you never know if it'll happen again.
