Best and Worst of the 25th Annual Independent Spirit Awards
Ben Stiller kills, Mariah Carey balloons, Johnny Weir crashes and more
Best Presenter - Hands Down
It's an open secret Ben Stiller has been asked to host the Oscars a number of times and turned the Academy down at every turn. Therefore, it's only more frustrating for everyone who is fans of the movie stars MTV Movie Award stunts and select presenter gigs such as last year's Academy Awards and this year's 25th Independent Spirit Awards where he pretty much stole the show. Some highlights thanks to HitFix's Dan Feinberg:
"I think it says volumes about the organizers of this event that even though I've been in over 350 big-budget studio movies over the past five years, the Spirit Awards were bold enough to say, 'You, Ben Stiller, epitomize our core values," Stiller cracks. "And what are those core values? I couldn't tell you if you paid me. Which you obviously have, since I'm here."
"Today I represent a group rarely heard from in show business... Jews. Finally our chance."
"One thing is clear... Anyone channel-surfing at this hour is looking for porn."
Three "independent porn stars" join Stiller on stage. Their names? Maggie Jizz-n-Balls, Parker Pússy and Philip Semen Hoffman. The porn stars strip and hump as the Best Film nominees are read aloud.

Actually, Colin Farrell and Rosario Dawson did star in a movie together, they starred together in Alexander. They even had a sex scene together!

You are absolutely right! It must have been Farrell's horrible wig that made me forget. Or, maybe it was just how lame the movie was overall...
March 6, 2010 at 1:28PM ESTBob Excellent reflections on a terrific awards show. Thank God for the Independent Spirit Awards!
March 6, 2010 at 12:30PM EST Reply to Commentjen making fun of weight gain...great idea...you may have just helped another insecure female decide to go ahead and try that eating disorder. do you have any quips about the bigger-than-mariah (and just as beautiful) women who kicked ass at last evening's awards show? really, don't stop at one asinine comment.

March 6, 2010 at 9:05PM EST Reply to CommentLauren The reason Johnny Weir was there so early was because he was interviewing celebrities for the Sundance Channel. He was not trying to garner attention for himself. And just in case you don't know, Johnny already has a documentary, Pop Star on Ice, under his belt, and his reality show, Be Good Johnny Weir, looks like it is under consideration for another season. Something tells me whoever wrote this article doesn't like Johnny.
March 7, 2010 at 11:30AM EST Reply to CommentCam I think Johnny Weir was sent by Sundance Channel to interview stars as they arrived. I don't think he crashed the party to get himself publicity. He actually has a show on SC. He was an invited guest and set up there to do interviews.
March 7, 2010 at 12:45PM EST Reply to CommentJane Listen Gregory. You should really get your facts straight before you type. Johnny Weir was not a Party Crasher AND his appearance in no way makes him less of an athlete. Your ingnorance makes me sick.
March 7, 2010 at 12:49PM EST Reply to CommentFaye Ummm... Johnny didn't crash the party. He was invited, seeing as the award show is for independent film and Johnny has a show and a documentary on Sundance, the mecca of independent film. He also arrived early because he is interviewing for Sundance. It looks like someone didn't do their research before writing this.

March 7, 2010 at 1:34PM EST Reply to Commentweirsho The John has many facets, skating is only one. And we take him seriously in all his endeavors. You probably should as well.
March 7, 2010 at 1:36PM EST Reply to CommentAlejandra "so much for wanting to be taken seriously as a true athlete"? What?
March 7, 2010 at 1:38PM EST Reply to CommentJohnny is a renaissance man. He can do many/all things brilliantly. And as well stated by others, your facts are all wrong. Johnny is a brand new thing. Totally unique. Open your mind and heart.
Charlene Ivey A little depth of research into WHAT YOU ARE SAYING and a little less judgmentalism into WHAT YOU ARE SAYING....Thank God Johnny Weir has got better things to do these days then turn his poison pen on you!
March 7, 2010 at 1:42PM EST Reply to Commentps owners: an IQ would be nice option when hiring!!
Patty Before writing an article, the author should get his/her facts straight. Johnny was invited to the ceremony and was not a party crasher. He needed to arrive early for interview commitments. Next time please check out your facts before you write.
March 7, 2010 at 1:45PM EST Reply to CommentDCGal Come ON. He was invited. And I can't think of a more independent spirit. Also, he looks great.
March 7, 2010 at 2:11PM EST Reply to CommentJaded NEWSFLASH: It's impossible to crash a party that you were invited to. Johnny Weir was at the Indie Spirit Awards as a representative of the Sundance Channel, therefore he did not crash the party. It seems like everyone on planet Earth knew this fact except for the judgmental person who wrote this stupid article.
March 7, 2010 at 2:16PM EST Reply to Commentsc He was invited and looked amazing. He is a true athlete if you bothered to look at his perfomances. Horrible writing.
March 7, 2010 at 2:48PM EST Reply to CommentClayton Johnny arrived early as he had a job to do. To be falsely labeled for this as an attention seeker is bad journalism. Johnny showed a much better work ethic than whoever wrote this article.
March 7, 2010 at 3:11PM EST Reply to CommentNick Jonas Johnny Weir certainly has a lot more talent than certain idiot bloggers.
March 7, 2010 at 3:20PM EST Reply to Commentpuri Johnny Weir was not a crasher...he was IN and the SUBJECT OF an independent film this year "Pop Star On Ice" and is the STAR of the Sundance Channel's show "Be Good Johnny Weir." Both the film and the series give a behind-the-scenes look at the life and struggles of a figure skating athlete, there is NO reason he should be taken LESS seriously. If anything, once you've seen how difficult it truly is to accomplish what he does, you will have MORE respect for his talent and his athleticism. SO maybe Mr. Ellwood should do a little homework before writing his posts? He clearly didn't even know about the film, which clearly gives Mr. Weir credentials to attend any film events he chooses.

Johnny Weir was there on behalf of Sundance Channel. So she was not a party crasher....and he was featured in a documentary and currently has a docu-series on Sundance....so he had every right to be there. Whoever wrote this post needs to make a retraction...and do a little research before posting false statements.
March 7, 2010 at 4:11PM EST Reply to CommentChe Apparently you do not understand the term 'party crasher'. Johnny Weir was there to work, interviewing stars for the Sundance Channel and being interviewed his own fabulous self. He was INVITED.
March 7, 2010 at 4:19PM EST Reply to CommentTaffychick Who the hell writes these crappy ill-informed articles? Johnny Weir was INVITED to the awards ceremony. He was representing the Sundance channel on which he has an awesome reality show. Johnny rules!
March 7, 2010 at 8:44PM EST Reply to CommentAnnCoulterFan Yes, he was invited, but I'd like to know WHY he was invited! He's not in MAJOR films or on MAJOR TV....but he has gay friends in MAJOR high places, though, doesn't he?!
