Best: Well deserved surprises
The Television Academy may make you want to pull your hair out with some of their choices, but sometimes they reward some gems that truly deserve the recognition. A few surprises worth noting this year include Niecy Nash earning her first nod in the Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for "Getting On," Abel Korzeniowski landing two scoring nods for "Penny Dreadful" (including its incredible opening theme) and "RuPaul's Drag Race" and legendary makeup artist Mathu Anderson for landing their first nominations in the Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series category.
