Best: "The Theory of Everything"
When an actor takes on the role of a iconic historical figure, he or she will most likely have a target on his or her back for critics and audiences alike (Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks are exempt, of course). In that context, Eddie Redmayne proved he has nothing to fear after his transformational work as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" debuted in Toronto. It's such an achievement it initially overshadows an impressive turn by co-star Felicity Jones, and this is ultimately director James Marsh's best narrative work to date (he's an Oscar winner for helming the doc "Man on Wire"). This is one player that will be a cornerstone of the upcoming season.
