Best: 'Breaking Bad' gets a well-earned final send-off
The second half of the final season of "Breaking Bad" was my No. 1 TV show for 2013 and it was the best thing that aired on TV in this Emmy eligibility window. The episode "Ozymandias" was last year's best single episode of TV and it won for writing and was the submission episode for winners Anna Gunn and Bryan Cranston. And even though Aaron Paul didn't have his best or meatiest overall season, his work in a few showcase episodes was as good as it has ever been. Say what you want about the ebbs and flows of the award season, but last September we could have predicted a "Breaking Bad" win and that's what we got tonight. It was well-earned and thoroughly deserved, even if I/we sometimes let the hype for other things get the better of us. Say what you want to about the boredom or predictability of the results, but Gilligan, Cranston, Paul, Gunn and Walley-Beckett got what was coming to them on Monday night.
