Worst: John Travolta introducing Idina Menzel
Idina Menzel is a Broadway superstar, but in introducing her (for her performance of "Let It Go") John Travolta reduced her to what sounded like a sneeze or an off-the-menu dish at your local Indian restaurant. In the history of mangling names, Travolta's mispronunciation is right up there. He left out entire syllables, as if his tongue was simply exhausted by the unusualness of it all. I'm thinking someone left his readers at home because he didn't want all of us to know he's getting older, but this would be a time when vanity shouldn't have outweighed good manners. Luckily Ellen Degeneres made a point of thanking Menzel at the end of her performance. A few people have pointed out Menzel didn't hit all her notes, which is hard to believe, but possibly being called words that might be insults in the right language didn't help.
