Best: The year guys returned to the voting process
Much to the chagrin of "Twilight" fans, MTV took a big leap away from the Stephenie Meyers film series by only awarding one nomination to last November's blockbuster "Breaking Dawn, Pt. 2." This after the show appeared to be the "Twilight" Movie Awards the previous four years. And, of course, Taylor Lautner easily won that single category (Twihards won't be denied in online voting). MTV wasn't dumb, however. They peppered each category with a nominee or two that would absolutely appeal to the demo that led to record ratings for the awards franchise. Surprisingly, the "better," more critically acclaimed or broader nominee won. Some of the highlights included "Silver Lining Playbook's" Bradley Cooper over "Magic Mike's" Channing Tatum for Best Male Performance, "Life of Pi's" Suraj Sharma over "House at the End of the Street's" Jennifer Lawrence for Best Scared-As S**t Performance, "Django Unchained" over "Pitch Perfect" for WTF Moment and "The Avengers" for Movie of the Year. In an even more intriguing sign of changing times, Bilbo Baggins won best hero in a tweet hash contest over Snow White (aka Kristen Stewart's powerful fan base).
