Best: The Black Keys' performance
One of the night's biggest winners were blues-based rockers The Black Keys, and to cap off their hugely-successful evening Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney played a jazz-infused version of their addictive hit single "Lonely Boy" alongside legendary "voodoo" rocker Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. In this age of overly slick production values, liberal doses of AutoTune and lip-synced National Anthems (ahem), the Keys' raw, truly live performance aesthetic, with all of its glitches and imperfections, was nothing less than a refreshing blast of pure authenticity. Doesn't hurt that they sounded pretty dang great to boot.
