Worst: Segregated category wins
People of color were obviously nominated in many different categories across the board, but when it came to winning Grammys, African Americans only seemed to take home honors in the R&B and hip-hop realm this year. Miguel, critical favorite Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa and others dotted the highest honors as nominees for awards like Album of the Year or popular categories like Pop Duo/Group Performance; however, Record, Album and Song of the Year and Best New Artist plus pop awards were all-white honorees. (Granted Janelle Monae featured on Fun.'s Song of the Year "We Are Young," but didn't take the stage with them.) There seems to be an imbalance here.
