Worst: Beach Boys tribute
While a Beach Boys tribute at the Grammys is certainly a great concept, at tonight's ceremony the execution was lamentably weak. Beginning with a so-so performance of "Surfer Girl" by Maroon 5 and a similarly-lukewarm rendition of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by Foster the People, The Beach Boys themselves took the stage to give...well, a disappointing performance of their classic song "Good Vibrations". While we didn't exactly expect the band to tear up at the stage given how much older they are than when they were at their peak, there was the unmistakable sense of something missing...a spark among the performers that would've truly made it something special. Sure, the Boys had the audience at the Staples Center on their feet, but likely more out of respect (they are legendary, after all) than genuine excitement over the performance itself.
