It was a good reversal of expectations. In "The Help," Stone was the understated center to a movie that featured a trio of Oscar nominated performances. Meanwhile, Stiller has always been the guy Oscar producers have brought out to do wacky things. So for this bit, preceding the Visual Effects Oscar, Stone played the giddy first-time presenter eager to do a song or a bit of canned banter, while Stiller was the expert straight-man, treating her youthful enthusiasm with world-weary resignation. The result was one of the first presenting highlights of the evening.
