Best and Worst of the 2012 Academy Awards: 'Bridesmaids,' Emma Stone, Billy Crystal, Meryl Streep
'Bridesmaids,' Emma Stone, Billy Crystal, Meryl Streep and more
Best: Official Pre-Show
This was the third year Robin Roberts and Tim Gunn participated in the now 90-minute official Academy Awards pre-show and their familiarity with the format is starting to pay off. The interviews were more entertaining (Gunn was fantastic with Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Milla Jovovich) and newcomer Louise Roe was a fantastic addition. Roe was great with Gwyneth Paltrow, Colin Firth and Jessica Chastain and - most importantly - wasn't intimidated by the global stage. Nina Garcia? We love you on "Runway" Nina, but you weren't great your first time out. Garcia needs better teleprompter training and has to find a way to get her thoughts out clearer and less nervously. Overall though, the pre-show is one part of the telecast that continues to improve.
