Best and Worst: Mick Jagger/Raphael Saadiq and In Memoriam
... that being said, I know Mick Jagger is the princess of the ball, considering he's a Rolling Stone and all that, but he could've given at least a little shout out to Saadiq.
Jagger was playing fast and loose with the lyrics to Solomon Burke's "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" but he and the guitarist/vocalist worked the stage as lifelong pros. I can think of no better middle finger to Keith Richards and his autobiography than Mick Jagger, Solo Artist.
But it also got me thinking about In Memoriam again this year, with so many deserving artists that could use such a spirited salute. The video piece itself looked like it was cobbled together in Power Point and... no Guru? As Win Butler said, what the hell?
