Best: Lead Actress in a Comedy award pageant
When Amy Poehler rushed the stage the moment her name was read, it almost seemed like a rare moment of improv. Of course, as each actress in the category climbed on stage upon hearing her name, we quickly realized it was nothing of the sort. But watching the women line up pageant-style to hear who won, it was a surprisingly endearing moment. Though Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Laura Linney, Martha Plimpton and Melissa McCarthy were parodying those Miss Universe/America/whatever contests we all know, they also seemed to connect to one another, holding hands and later, dispensing hugs. And I think everyone can agree that Melissa McCarthy deserved that tiara, too.
